ROAD INTERRUPTION AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
From Monday 18th September the bridge “Ponte del Fogliaio”, which is on the road from Gallicano to the Grotta del Vento, will be completely closed to traffic until the urgent roadworks are completed which, barring unforeseen circumstances should be within a fortnight at the latest.
The only alternative solution for those who would like to reach the Grotta del Vento is to go towards Brucciano and Calomini from Gallicano and the proceed towards Vergemoli, where you then take the road that leads to the cave. All together it is 20km (instead of the 12km of the normal road to the cave, which is closed temporarily due to roadworks).
According to Google Maps, the travel time from Gallicano to the cave is 45 minutes, but for those who are not used to mountain roads, we recommend taking a longer time into consideration (about an hour).
