Today, April 22, we celebrate Earth Day, a global event established in 1970 to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet. It’s both a symbolic and concrete moment to reflect on the relationship between humans and the environment, and how each of us can do our part.
At the Grotta del Vento, in the heart of the Apuan Alps, every day is an opportunity to promote environmental education, responsible tourism, and love for nature. But today, more than ever, we feel the need to emphasize how precious natural environments are, and how important it is to visit them with respect and awareness.

Why is Earth Day celebrated?
Earth Day originated in the United States thanks to Senator Gaylord Nelson’s initiative, and is now recognized globally as one of the largest environmental events on the planet. Each year it involves over one billion people in more than 190 countries through activities, events, symbolic actions, and awareness campaigns.
The message is clear: Earth is our shared home, and protecting it is a collective responsibility.

Grotta del Vento: a treasure to discover and respect
Visiting the Grotta del Vento is not just about admiring a fascinating natural spectacle: it’s also about experiencing a delicate underground ecosystem, shaped by nature over millions of years. Stalactites, stalagmites, flows, shafts, and underground lakes tell the story of our planet and invite us to take care of it.
Every visit is a chance to reflect on the fragility of certain natural environments. This is why we are committed to offering guided tours that combine wonder and awareness. Our guides not only share scientific knowledge, but also promote respect for the environment, encouraging visitors to recognize the fragility of these unique places.

Responsible tourism: small gestures, big difference
Responsible tourism is not just an idea—it’s a practical choice we can all make. It means visiting natural places like the Grotta del Vento with care and respect.
We invite all visitors to experience the cave mindfully, by following the rules and letting curiosity and wonder be their guides. Every step inside the cave is a small but meaningful act of attention to the Earth.
Environmental education: building the future
Grotta del Vento has always been a place of learning for schools, families, and groups, with educational tours designed for all ages. On Earth Day, we renew our commitment to promoting a culture of sustainability—because understanding nature is the first step to protecting it.
An invitation to explore
Today more than ever, Earth is asking for our attention. And we can respond through wonder, listening, and direct experience. We invite you to visit the Grotta del Vento with new eyes: those of gratitude for a planet that offers us beauty, life, and awe every single day.
Happy Earth Day to all!
